Presenters: World authorities on the wetlands, rainforests and reefs of Far North Queensland – Professor Richard Pearson Head of School, School of Tropical Biology and Dr J.E.N. (Charlie) Veron, former Chief Scientist of the Australian Institute of Marine Science.

Today’s focus: Cromarty Wetlands, impacts of global warming on the Wet Tropics Rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef,  and climate solutions for Australia.

Event: Join the Runners for the last few kilometres of their journey (at your own pace), or meet us at the end of the run for a Community Forum and hear from World reef and rainforest authorities from your local area.

Time: A snappy, fresh 8 am start!

Location: Endeavour Park by the monument

Event: Cook Shire Council Mayor Peter Scott and Carol Pierce from the Gungarde Aboriginal Corporation speak at the official send off as the runners take the first steps in their 6000km run. The youngsters from Hopevale Aboriginal Community will perform a dance to bless the run and ensure the runners have safe passage. Join us in wishing them well on their epic journey.
